The dress is one of the random drops. We mostly do umbrellas. Every so often something shows up that the team won't let go of, and it lands on the site. This was the latest. The floral print is the part that closed the deal. Blue botanical on white, the kind of print that reads as French countryside from across a courtyard and as something you can actually wear to dinner from across a table.
What it's like to wear
The bodice is fitted. The straps are thin but not fragile. The square neck sits where a square neck should sit — across the collarbones, not up at the throat, not down at the sternum. The waist is high, which is the part that does the silhouette work. Below the waist, the skirt drops in an A-line and keeps dropping until it's at the ankle on most heights. The whole thing is cut to follow you when you walk, not fight you when you sit.
What it's like in the heat
The fabric is 92% polyester, 8% spandex. Polyester doesn't love a hot day the way a linen would, but the cut is open enough at the chest and the skirt is full enough at the bottom that the air moves. A busy print forgives the small things — sweat marks, the dress that's been folded in a suitcase. The straps stay put. The bodice doesn't shift. You wear it to the thing you said yes to, and you forget you're wearing it.
What it's like to live with
- 92% polyester, 8% spandex. Woven feel, knit stretch. The fabric moves without looking like a stretch fabric.
- Square neck, thin straps. The neckline is the focal point. The straps disappear once it's on.
- Fitted bodice, A-line skirt. Fitted where it shows shape, full where it needs to move.
- High waist, ankle length. 47-48 in / 120-122 cm. Hits at the ankle on most heights.
- Machine washable. Cold water, hang dry. The polyester doesn't wrinkle the way natural fibers do, which is the part that makes it travel well.
The honest stuff
It's polyester. Not silk, not linen, not anything that costs three times as much. The reason it's on the site is that it looks like the dress you'd buy for three times the price, and it doesn't ask you to dry-clean it. We tried the alternatives. The price gap was real. The look gap wasn't.
The fit is fitted. The bodice is close to the body, not draped. The size chart is the guide. If you're between sizes or want a looser fit, we recommend sizing up. The model is 5'8" (173 cm) and wearing US 2-4.
