One umbrella, two jobs. The inside of the canopy carries a titanium-silver layer that reflects UV before it becomes heat, so the air under the canopy runs cooler than the air around you. The outside has a lotus-leaf water-repellent finish: rain beads, rolls off, and one shake puts it back in your bag mostly dry. The button works, the canopy opens, and the wind gives up before the ribs do.

What it's like in the sun

The mirror-finish layer on the inside of the canopy reflects UV and keeps the underside cooler than the air around you. On a hot day, the difference is the kind of thing people notice and don't know how to explain — you just stand under it and your shoulders stop complaining. Rated UPF 50+, blocks UVB and both UVA bands. The numbers come from the lab that tested the fabric. We don't run one; we trust the report.

What it's like in the rain

The outside of the canopy has a lotus-leaf water-repellent finish. Rain beads up, beads roll off, one shake and the umbrella goes back in your bag mostly dry. Not bone-dry — the seams will catch a few drops — but dry enough that you're not putting a wet umbrella on the seat next to you.
